On saturday I attended (as you can see in my sidebar) The Blog Works. We were welcomed by the lovely Marie Lemaître from Oona and Stephanie Duval from Label (she also has a blog) with a healthy breakfast. Before noon some national and international speakers were invited. Then there was a delicious lunch and in the afternoon we could follow two photography workshops.
Speakers
The day started with some amazing speakers who told us about their experiences with blogging. Here are some inspiring quotes of them:

Jantine Vaartjes is a stylist and interior designer who has her own design blog April and May. With this quote she wanted to tell us that as a beginning blogger you don’t have to panic about low page views, just be patient and write about what you love and like. I’ll keep it in mind!

Amber Venz president and co-founder of rewardStyle and a blogger told us about trends in blogging and the future of blogging. Two trends now are multiplatform publishing and bloggers as brands. Her advice about multiplatform publishing was not to copy your content on every social media platform you’re on. Be diverse and share different content on different platforms. That made me think about my blog, I am copying most of the time the link to my blogpost on every platform.. In the future I’ll be more diverse, because every platform has a different audience. The quote above means that you can choose who you work with for your blog and you don’t have to be told what to do by brands, shops, pr people and so on.

Bart Lapers has his own travel blog and he writes about going on luxury holidays with a low budget. In this quote he means that you can only achieve something if you invest something. Those are some wise words!

Arieta Mujay is UK PR manager at River Island. She’s the woman behind the bloggercollabs and decides with whom they are going to work with. She has a clear view about interesting bloggers and admitted that she mostly chooses bloggers by intuition. This quote made me think too! I recently announced that from now on I’ll try to blog every day. Last week was easy because I had a mailbox full of inspiration and some other things in my notebook I wanted to blog for a long time now. But what happens if I don’t have inspiration one day? Then I’ll post something dull, blog to blog. That’s not the point of blogging. Arieta says it exactly right, if you don’t have content, don’t blog. Well, I pull it back. I will blog more often, but probably not every day. I have busy days lately and I’ll blog when I do have something to tell you.

We were all excited about meeting this pretty blogger, Susanna Lau from Style Bubble. Although she’s a big blogger she was humble and modest. She told us about how her blog has grown over the years. Her advice to us was that bloggers who climb up slowly but give good content, will win the race.
These speakers made me think a lot, what I’ll definitely keep in mind:
- No content? No blogging!
- Different platforms, different content
- Be patient to grow
- You have the power to decide with whom you’ll work together with!
Workshops: product and fashion photography

These are some of the tryouts of what I’ve learned at the Product photography workshop by Marta Majewska. Marta is a foodblogger and she works for several magazines like Elle (All Belgian Elle readers know foodie Marta right? That’s her!). I learned a lot about the setting of products, the attributes you use and how to handle your camera. At the Fashion photography workshop by Alexander Popelier of AvantGand we learned about how to make good fashion pictures outside and inside. Those two workshops were very interesting and I’m definitely going to try out all the tips & tricks they gave me!

Some random pics to round up my post about a lovely and educational day!
